You can’t stop pavement cracking from occurring. Pavement will wear down. When your pavement is under attack, crack sealing can be the most cost effective route to treating your pavement.

Where we may find cracks now, potholes form later. You should inspect your pavement once a year to identify and seal any new cracks. Cracks larger than 1/8” need to be addressed. After crack sealing you should be inspect your pavement every 3 years. There is also a difference between crack filling and crack sealing. Asphalt is flexible and moves due to the changes in temperature and traffic load. When you fill a crack, materials are used to just fill the hole and for the moment that stops debris and water from getting into the cracks. When the temperature or traffic load changes, the crack filler does not adhere to the pavement.
